Mozilla's CEO Gary Kovacs broke the silence on their new innovation of Mobile OS during the Dive Into Mobile conference today.
Mozilla, the nonprofit foundation behind the Firefox browser, is bringing its engineering acumen to bear on a new mobile operating system, Firefox
According to CEO, the launch will start in 5 countries in June and 11 more by the end of the year. “We plan to hit Venezuela, Poland, Brazil, Portugal and Spain. … We’ll hit the U.S. in 2014.”
He said they are starting in emerging markets where Firefox is particularly strong.
Some of the features of Firefox OS:-
A level playing field against other OS and marketplace providers

- Ownership and control over relationships with customers
- Customized phones that meet the specific needs of various target markets
